Frequently asked questions
Everything people ask before downloading eatables.
What is eatables?
Eatables is a free food discovery and review app available on the web and Android, with iOS coming soon. It helps you find restaurants, cafés and street food spots near you using reviews from people who actually ate the dish, plus a personal must-try list.
How does eatables decide what to recommend?
Recommendations are based on your current location, what people in your neighbourhood are reviewing right now, and filters you choose (mood, dietary, cuisine, price). There are no paid placements — every spot you see is ranked on real activity, not on who paid to be visible.
Is eatables free to use?
Yes. Eatables is free for everyone with no ads. You can browse, search, save lists and post reviews without paying. There is no premium tier required to access core features.
How do you handle spam and fake reviews?
We try our best to prevent spam and fake reviews. Reviews from people who actually ate the dish are what we want to surface, and there are no paid bumps for restaurants.
Which cities and countries does eatables work in?
Eatables started in India and currently covers select neighbourhoods in major Indian cities including Mangalore, Bengaluru, Kochi, Mumbai, Delhi, Pune and Chennai. Coverage is expanding.
How do I add a missing restaurant or dish?
We have a section inside the app for adding a restaurant or dish that is not yet listed. Open the app and use that flow to submit it.
How is eatables different from Zomato or Google Maps?
Zomato and Google Maps surface listings ranked partly by ads, sponsored placements and review volume regardless of authenticity. Eatables ranks by reviews from real diners — we try our best to prevent spam and fake reviews — and there are no paid placements. The app is also designed around discovery — categories like "date-night", "solo-friendly" and "late night" are first-class filters.
Can I save dishes to try later?
Yes. As of now you can favourite individual dishes (not whole restaurants). Tap the bookmark on any dish to add it to your must-try list. The list shows your progress so you never lose track of something you wanted to try.
Does eatables work for restaurant owners?
Not yet — we are planning a restaurant-facing product that will give owners ways to increase their impression and reach. There will be no paid promotion or ads in it. We will share more once it is ready.
How do I delete my account or data?
Open the eatables app and go to Profile → Settings → Account actions → Delete account. Confirm deletion and tap Delete. Your reviews and lists are removed within 30 days. Full details are on the request account deletion page and in the Privacy policy.
