Welcome to eatables — a review app that ranks on truth, not ads

Eatables is live. Today we are introducing a free food discovery and review app for Android, with iOS coming soon, built around one principle: rankings come from real reviews, not from who paid the most.

The problem with food apps today

Open any popular review app and the top three results are usually sponsored. The next three are from accounts with suspiciously round review counts. The “best of” lists are paid placements. The five-star ratings come from people who never ate at the place. We have spent the last few years arguing with each other about which apps to ignore on weekend trips. So we built one we would actually trust.

Three rules that shape every decision

  1. No paid placements, ever. Restaurants cannot pay to rank higher. There are no sponsored slots, no boosted listings, no “featured” tags for sale.
  2. We try our best to prevent spam and fake reviews. Reviews from people who actually ate the dish are what we want to surface.

Where we are

We started in Mangalore and now cover select neighbourhoods across India. We are growing depth-first — better to do five cities well than fifty badly.
